There are at least seven common face shapes:
- square
- round
- triangular
- oblong
- oval
- heart
- diamond
The Square Face shape has angles and is usually about as wide as it is long.
Oval or round sunglasses can soften the angles of the face such as the jaw line. Also, aviator or frames that wrap around the face such as shields are perfect for the square or angled face

The Round Face requires sunglasses that are as wide or slightly wider than the broadest part of your face. Rectangular frames or frames with soft edges (ovals) will help to define your face and give it the look that you want.

The Triangular Face is defined by a broad forehead, a dominant jaw line, and a narrow mouth and chin. If you have a triangular shaped face, it can be complemented with thin rims and vertical lines. The triangular shaped face almost appears to be the heart shaped face in reverse.
Sleek oval frames with colored lenses may also look fantastic on you.
The Oblong or Rectangular Face is similar to the square face but with a little more length. The shape of your face looks best with a frame that covers as much of the center of the face as possible.
Experiment on updated classics for a trendy look.
Pick large, over-size frames and avoid small frames which make your face appear larger. Also, wrap around frames shorten and widen the face to create balance.
The Oval Face is the most versatile type of face when choosing the perfect sunglasses. The sky is the limit and most any style of frames and colors will work for the oval face.
Hint: Jackie O’s are a great shape as they extend past the broadest part of face.
The Heart Shaped Face requires a frame that will add some width to the bottom of the face - choose one with a heavy lower edge.
Sunglasses that are rimless with rounded tops and squared bottoms are chic and provide the attitude that the heart-shaped face commands.
The Diamond Shaped Face usually has a small chin, a small forehead and a wider area at the temple (just like a diamond) with high cheekbones.
Although it is the rarest shape of the face, it is important to mention because high cheekbones are always in style and deserve to be accentuated!
